May 15, 2012 - This question is about the purple sand from Pfeiffer Beach in California. I am confused as to why the purple sand is not mixed in with the regular sand... Instead, the purple sand lies on top of the regular sand. Does this have to do with polarity? I know sand is nonpolar, so what is manganese garnet then?
